Fine line tattoos
Delicate, custom fine line tattoos by Maddy in Bend, Oregon. Botanical vines, butterflies, names and dainty pieces.
Fine line tattooing is all about delicate, crisp linework: thin needles, soft shading and a lot of patience. It's the style I reach for when a piece should feel light and personal, like a vine curling around a name and date, a pair of butterfly wings across the shoulders, or a few lilies on the inner forearm.
Every fine line tattoo I do is custom. We start with your idea, your references and the spot you have in mind, and I draw something sized and shaped for your body, not pulled off a flash sheet. Fine line looks best when it has a little room to breathe, so I'll be honest with you about size and placement. Lines that are too tiny or packed too tight can blur as they heal, so we'll adjust the design together.
Popular fine line pieces I love doing:
- Botanical vines, wildflowers and single stems
- Butterflies, moths and little winged things
- Names, dates and short script woven into florals
- Small, dainty pieces like cherries, stars and moons
All of my fine line work is black and grey, which keeps it timeless and lets the detail do the talking.
I'm tattooing in Bend at Rider Tattoo Studio from November 3 to 21, 2026, and spots are limited. If you're in Bend or anywhere in Central Oregon (Redmond, Sisters, Sunriver, La Pine, Prineville), send me your idea through the booking page and we'll make something together.

FAQ
How long does a fine line tattoo last?
With good aftercare and a sensible size, fine line tattoos hold up well for years. I size designs so the lines have room to heal cleanly.
Do fine line tattoos hurt more?
Most people find fine line about the same or a little gentler than bolder work. Placement matters more than style.
How much does a small fine line tattoo cost?
Small pieces are quoted individually based on size, placement and detail. Larger projects are $145/hour, with a $125 deposit that goes toward your total.
